Jewish Art For The Spirit

December 28th, 2011 | Posted by timd in Art For Sale | Chassidic Art | Judaica | Pop Art - (0 Comments)

Yitzchok Moully describes himself as “a Rabbi by day and an artist by night.” But the two parts of his person are clearly on display in everything he does. Certainly when it comes to his art his great muse is certainly the Judaic culture he is dedicated to constantly. He imbues each piece with some important piece of Judaism, from religious figures to significant religious symbols his art carries with it the weight that a Rabbi brings to everything he does.

This is to everyone’s benefit. The more we are surrounded by the deep religious and spiritual value easily found in this contemporary Jewish art the more indelible the connections between that spirit and our lives becomes. We can more wholly embrace the Jewish religion by surrounding ourselves with it more and more often in increasingly engaging ways.

This is the fantastic service that Yitzchok Moully provides to all who see his works. You become closer to your own spiritual center through Moully’s religious expression. That is why these prints of these brightly colorful, fun and ultimately quite invigorating pieces of Jewish art are such great gifts and real investments in your family home. They make the whole place brighter and your attention to what is truly important sharper.

This Hanukkah there are a lot of gifts you can get your older kids. Maybe they want some fancy computer game or a new appliance. Maybe there is a sweater they’ve had their eye on. Still a gift that will likely outlast them all is some awesome prints from the ever growing collection of Judaic art being made by Yitzchok Moully.

These indelible pieces of contemporary Jewish art are both a practical investment in art that could be very valuable one day but also a fun and cool looking bit of home accouterments that will be appreciated by anyone interested in Judaic culture but especially those hip pop culture fans between the ages of 18 and 40. Art is a fantastic and very mature gift, one who’s impact has the wild card factor of not being truly known for years to come. Purchasing one of these fantastic prints now could lead to a great family heirloom passed down from your children’s children to their children and so on.

If there is one thing that Judaic culture encourages it is a firm connection with history. Buying contemporary Jewish art now is like planting a flag on this moment in history and making sure it will be preserved in your family for decades to come.

Jewish Pop Culture At A Breaking Point?

November 22nd, 2011 | Posted by timd in Art For Sale | Chassidic Art | Judaica - (0 Comments)

There is clearly a movement of like minded people beginning to take hold and Yitzchok Moully is an inextricable part of that movement. A few weeks ago Moully became the first ever Jewish Artist of the week at a blog called Pop Chassid. Pop Chassid is dedicated to finding artists and parts of culture where traditional Judaic values are imbued and help come to define pop products. From rap music to comic books, there is currently a forward thinking movement that popular culture needs an injection of some traditional Jewish flavor and there is a wealth of folks ready to contribute.

Jewish art of course has always played a large part in the art world at large. Jewish artists account for much of several wide swaths of our popular culture. That said it seemed exceedingly rare that their overall Jewish-ness guided and defined the work they did. Bob Dylan for example played a huge role in the changing world of pop music but not before changing his name from Zimmerman to Dylan. Jon Stewart made a similar switch and while many will say that Yiddish linguistics and Judaic teachings can still be found through out their work what Yitzchok Moully and the writers at Pop Chassid are looking for are Jewish artists that are more fundamentally Jewish.

Fans of the work of Yitzchok Moully have a lot of pieces to chose from if they are hoping to own a piece of this captivating and unique artist. It is the most positive aspect of the Pop Art world that through fairly consistent print making the prices and availability of these exciting pieces are somewhat democratized.

If you are looking to decorate your home in a style that is both indebted to the routes of Judaica but also hyper modern to match perhaps the fashionable furniture and color scheme of your home these pieces are ideal. The mixture of old iconography and subjects with vibrant hyper-modern design and context makes these pieces truly dynamic and worthy of attention and conversation. If someone has some of this Jewish artists‘ work it is almost impossible to get through a dinner party or event without discussing it.

Investing in contemporary Jewish art is a great choice. So many people spend their times collecting prints and recreations of more classical pieces but these modern paintings and prints will only become more captivating and valuable over time. Besides that they will look amazing practically anywhere in your home reminding you that Judaism is a living breathing current thing.

The arts have always factored significantly in the Jewish community. However for some the world of Judaica art has been stifled by a slightly out sized focus on classicism and a lack of forward motion along with the rest of the greater artistic community. Leave it to a man immersed in Judaic study of the Chassidic community and raised by former hippies to open up the world of Jewish artwork to the strikingly modern and vividly colored world of Pop Art.

Yitzchok Moully’s artistic endeavors are very much off the traditional path and yet they insist on paying homage to the Jewish community he has dedicated himself to. This website hopes to shine some light on the world of Pop Art, Jewish Art and the connections that up until now have been very hard to see. Through out we will also tout and discuss the work being presented and sold by Moully Art website. It is an incredible collection that will surely brighten the domain of any enthusiast for both Judaica not to mention fans of Andy Warhol and his ilk. The bright colors are in service of Rabbis and dradles, not to mention of the spirituality inherent in the faithful Jewish community.
